In Girona, the Chamber of Commerce is urging authorities to keep the Health Campus project on schedule, with completion targeted for 2031. Chamber president Jaume Fàbrega said the economic future of the Girona area is linked to pending infrastructure projects, including the health complex and the AVE high-speed rail stop at Girona Airport.

Fàbrega told reporters that businesses would not allow administrations to neglect their responsibilities. He said accountability is needed so these developments move ahead as planned.

The Chamber set out its position on Thursday during the presentation of its Sectoral Barometer 25/26. The report highlighted several concerns for local businesses, including inflation, geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruption and a shortage of skilled staff.

According to the Chamber, those pressures are affecting economic stability and growth prospects across the area. It argues that delivering major projects such as the Health Campus is part of creating a more reliable setting for business activity in Girona and beyond.
