Four men were arrested in Alt Empordà on 9 April by the Mossos d'Esquadra for allegedly kidnapping and severely assaulting another man in late 2025. The victim was reportedly held against his will and subjected to violence.

The victim filed a complaint on 3 February, stating he had been held at an agricultural property in Cabanes between 8 and 9 December. There, the kidnappers, aged between 24 and 62, allegedly intimidated and assaulted him. Their aim was to force him to pay a €60,000 ransom.

Cross-Border Abduction

After the initial detention in Cabanes, the kidnapped man was moved to another property in France, near the Belgian border. He was held there until his family paid part of the ransom. The police investigation led to the arrests several months after the incident was reported.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have not yet released further details regarding the ongoing investigation or the specific charges the four men face. The case highlights the serious nature of organised crime in the region.
