Deadline Approaches for Prestigious Regional Journalism Prizes
The deadline to enter the XXXIX Premi de Periodisme Mañé i Flaquer is 9 October 2026. The awards, among the most well-endowed journalism prizes in Catalonia, offer a total of €20,000 across four categories. Organised by the Ajuntament de Torredembarra (Torredembarra Town Council) and the Tarragona branch of the Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya (Catalan Association of Journalists), with sponsorship from Repsol and the Port of Tarragona, the awards honour Joan Mañé i Flaquer, a 19th-century pioneer of modern journalism from the town.
Categories and Prizes
- Periodisme Camp de Tarragona: €8,000 prize for work focused on the Camp de Tarragona region, open to media worldwide.
- Periodisme Turístic: €6,000 prize for tourism-related journalism on any global destination. The winner will also receive a paid commission from Torredembarra Town Council to produce a journalistic piece about the town.
- Comunicació Local: €3,000 prize for open-topic work by journalists based in or reporting on the Camp de Tarragona.
- Fotoperiodisme Camp de Tarragona: €3,000 prize for photojournalism linked to the region, even if photographed elsewhere.
Entries must have been published or broadcast between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026. Photojournalism submissions are accepted until 4 October 2026.
Jury and Submission Process
Two independent juries will assess entries. The general categories jury includes Coia Ballesté, Neus Bonet, Jordi Farré, Arnau Martínez, Joan Maria Morros, and Glòria Serra. The photojournalism jury comprises Sandra Balsells, Arnau Martínez, and Anna Surinyach.
"These awards are an important stimulus and recognition for a profession undergoing deep crisis and transformation," said Arnau Martínez, president of the Tarragona demarcation of the Col·legi de Periodistes.
Submissions can be sent via email to [email protected] or delivered in person to Torredembarra Town Hall at Plaça del Castell, 8, 43830 Torredembarra. All entries must include a completed application form available at premimanyeiflaquer.cat, along with proof of publication.
