The governing board in Figueres has given final approval to the renovation project for the Casino Menestral. Work on the historic building is expected to start after the summer, likely in September, according to officials.
The project previously received approval from the Heritage Commission. The city council is now working to tender the construction work soon. Initial approval for the project, valued at €5.4 million, was granted at the end of 2025.
Phased Renovation Plans
The renovation will proceed in phases. The first stage will focus on the central access core and the music school. Subsequent work will address the theatre hall and classrooms.
The city council will fund the first phase, which totals €2.6 million, contributing €2 million itself. The Girona Provincial Council will provide an additional €1 million for this initial stage.
