The Figueres government has given final approval for the renovation project of the Casino Menestral, with work expected to start after the summer, likely in September. This decision follows the project's endorsement by the Heritage Commission, according to officials.
The city council is now working to tender the construction work soon. The initial approval for the project, valued at €5.4 million, was granted in late 2025. This significant investment aims to modernise the historic building, ensuring its continued use as a cultural hub for residents.
Phased Renovation Plan
The renovation will proceed in phases. The first stage will focus on the central access areas and the music school. Following this, the theatre hall and classrooms will be reformed. This structured approach allows for targeted improvements and efficient use of resources.
Funding for the initial phase, which totals €2.6 million, will be shared. The Figueres City Council will contribute €2 million, with the Girona Provincial Council adding another €1 million. This collaboration highlights the regional importance of the Casino Menestral and the commitment to its future.
