BARCELONA: The Catalan government said an education strike across Maresme, Vallès Occidental and Vallès Oriental had reached 11.89% turnout by 1pm on Thursday.

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training said 76.54% of workplaces with staff called to strike had reported data. The action covered teaching staff, other employees in public centres, and staff from the Education Ministry’s central, territorial and educational services.

The ministry said it did not yet have figures for other groups also called to strike, including staff from different ownerships, cleaning personnel, kitchen staff and monitors.

The strike affected public schools and Education Department services in the three Catalan areas. For background on related coverage, see our news page.
