Participants in the Correllengua Agermanat relay continued their journey across Catalonia on 20 April 2026, pushing through a severe hailstorm that affected routes heading to Oliana in Alt Urgell and Girona.

The "Sistered Correllengua" event, which began yesterday in Prada, carries the flame of the Catalan language from north to south. Relay runners near La Seu d'Urgell were surprised by a heavy hailstorm, creating difficulties for participants who nevertheless kept running, according to VilaWeb. The organisation declared, "We are not aborting the mission!" in a social media video, adding the text "Nothing stops us!"

Correllengua Defies Adverse Weather

The adverse weather also impacted the other branch of the Correllengua, which is scheduled to conclude this evening in Girona. Despite the rain, the final event in Girona will proceed as planned, but has been moved indoors to the porch of Escola Eiximenis. The flame's arrival in Girona is anticipated at 7.20pm, followed by the reading of a manifesto and the traditional Àliga dance.

Catalonia's Meteorological Service issued a weather warning for today, 20 April, indicating a possibility of hailstones larger than two centimetres. However, this danger was primarily located in the Berguedà region, with no warnings issued for Alt Urgell or Gironès, where the Correllengua events are concluding.
