Igualada-born artist Arnau Pineda will present his latest creative project, titled "Finite Jest", at La Sala, the municipal exhibition hall in Igualada. The inauguration will take place on Thursday 30 April 2026 at 7pm.
The exhibition, which runs until Sunday 17 May 2026, represents the culmination of work developed following the Igual'ART 2025-26 prize. Pineda received this award for his previous proposal, "Cross Series", a pictorial series he developed over two years and which had previously been exhibited in Barcelona and Igualada.
Supported by the artistic creation prize, Pineda has developed a project that seeks to synthesise sculpture and painting, aiming to offer new depth to his creative universe. While his earlier work focused on oil paintings with multiple layers of binders to create volume and texture, "Finite Jest" intends to deconstruct the original image to articulate an allegorical narrative.
Pineda describes this new phase as a reflection on the metaphysics of shared space through the use of diverse materials, seeking a balance between figurative and abstract painting.
Pineda's Artistic Journey and Recognition
Pineda's recent career has included solo exhibitions at the University of Barcelona and Espai Cub, the Cube Space, at the Museu de la Pell d’Igualada, the Leather Museum of Igualada, where he presented works specifically created for those environments. His work has also been shown in collective exhibitions across Catalonia and Germany, receiving positive reviews from established painters such as Asturian artist Hugo Fontela and Igualada's Joan Saló.
The artist has also recently strengthened his digital presence with the launch of his official website, which catalogues the evolution of his artistic style.
Jury Highlights Local Impact
The exhibition, organised by the Culture Department of Igualada City Council, received approval from a jury. This jury comprised representatives from La Gaspar municipal art school, design professionals, and technical and political officials from the culture department.
The jury particularly highlighted Pineda's young talent and the maturation process of his project, considering his work to be a driving force and stimulus for local artistic creation in the city. This recognition underscores the exhibition's significance for the cultural landscape of Igualada and the broader development of emerging Catalan artists.
