The Comuns party has warned of a deindustrialisation risk in the Girona region, following ongoing labour disputes at Domo Polymer Blanes and Nestlé. Girona MP Júlia Boada met with CCOO union representatives from both companies to discuss the employment situation and advocate for job retention.
The party stated it will take the Domo case to the Catalan Parliament and the Nestlé case to the Ministry of Labour. They aim to find ways to reduce the impact of the current processes on workers.
Addressing Labour Disputes
Boada's meetings focused on the challenges faced by employees at the two industrial sites. The Comuns are pushing for government intervention to safeguard manufacturing jobs in the area, according to party officials. The party believes these specific cases highlight a broader potential trend of industrial decline in the Girona provinces.
The Comuns' actions reflect a commitment to supporting local workforces and preventing job losses in key industrial sectors. Their engagement with both regional and national authorities shows an effort to secure a stable future for the affected employees.
