Cerdanyola del Vallès council approved a range of measures at its ordinary plenary session on 30 April 2026, including the creation of a fifth municipal nursery school and a new Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. The session also saw the approval of substantial budget modifications to fund various city improvements.
The new nursery school will be established by partially reallocating space from Les Fontetes School, according to council documents. This move addresses the growing demand for early childhood education in the municipality. Additionally, the council approved an initial modification to the municipal budget, allocating €1,467,386.64 from treasury surpluses for specific investments and improvements across the city.
Further budget changes include an initial modification of €32,005.56 from treasury surpluses to fund expenses for Culture, Education, and the Municipal Archive services. The council also approved several extrajudicial recognitions of obligations, including €1,674 for Club Esportiu Horitzó 1994 for an adapted sports monitoring programme at Can Xarau swimming pool, and €8,731.53 to Catalana de Clima i C.Llonch, SL for maintenance at CEM Can Xarau pool and gym.
Infrastructure and Public Services Enhanced
Public services received notable attention, with €5,040.86 approved for Fundació Daina for the collection and shelter of abandoned or lost animals. AMINAPARK, SLU will receive €31,705.19 for renovating the rubber pavement at the Sant Iscle avenue children's park. The council also approved the initial executive project for asphalt renewal and improvements on various streets in Cerdanyola, specifically in zones 3 and 5.
In a move towards modern urban management, Cerdanyola del Vallès council approved its application to join the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI). This membership aims to help the city use technology for better public services and urban planning. The council also approved the initial modification of the municipal ordinance on the circulation of bicycles, personal mobility vehicles, and cycles with more than two wheels.
Future Developments and Local Governance
The plenary session also addressed future developments, approving the initiation of a subjective patrimonial mutation file in favour of the Generalitat de Catalunya. This is for the construction of a new Primary Care Centre in the Parc de l'Alba area, which will expand local healthcare facilities.
Local holidays for 2027 were set, with two specific days approved as local public holidays for Cerdanyola del Vallès. The council also approved the modification of the Job List (RLT) and the organic staff of the City Council. Motions were debated, with some approved, such as one from ERC, Guanyem, and En Comú Podem Cerdanyola for modifying urban planning to define the municipality subject to the right of first refusal and withdrawal by the council. Other motions, including two from the Vox Cerdanyola Municipal Group, were not approved.
