Girona, Catalonia: The Guia de Vins de Catalunya is preparing its nineteenth edition with a major change after being acquired by the Wine Palace group. The guide, led by editorial coordinator Marc Subirós and tasting manager Anna Vicens, says the aim is to raise its profile and reach more readers.
The main new feature is a dual scoring system. From now on, the guide will publish separate ratings from professional sommeliers and from amateur wine consumers, described as winelovers. The two scores will appear independently and will not be averaged together.
This is the first edition produced under the new ownership. The 2027 edition is currently being prepared, and the guide says the update is intended to make it more accessible to a wider audience while keeping its role as a reference for Catalan wines.
The change also reflects a wider shift in the wine sector, where publishers and producers are looking for more direct consumer input. For readers following Catalan food and drink coverage, related updates are available on our news page.
Wine Palace has not said that the guide will replace professional tasting notes. Instead, the two sets of ratings will sit side by side, giving readers both expert and consumer views in the same publication.
