Students in Lleida have started the university entrance exams known as the Selectivitat, with pupils in Tàrrega and La Seu d'Urgell also taking part in the first day of tests. Many said the opening papers in Catalan and Spanish were easier than expected, while new anti-plagiarism pilot measures were also introduced.
In Lleida, students from Màrius Torres and Lestonnac institutes described the questions as generally manageable. Others gathered outside the Cappont campus said the Spanish exam felt easier than recent class exercises, although they stressed that nothing could be taken for granted.
Several students said they were told about the anti-plagiarism controls but did not see any incidents. Some reported hearing the checks when correctors passed by, and said they supported the measures if all candidates are to be assessed on equal terms. Others said they had been very nervous in the days before the exams, but felt calmer once the papers began.
In La Seu d'Urgell, Lola Casal, a student at IES Joan Brudieu, said the multiple-choice grammar section was a positive surprise and could help her final mark. Her classmate Bernat Sánchez said the theoretical part was the hardest, although the multiple-choice questions helped him relax. In Puigcerdà, Ona Leis said she needs a 7 in every subject to secure her first-choice university place, while Ona Juvé said the essay section was shorter than usual and had to be condensed into 150 words.
Students in Tàrrega also said the first day went well. Nico, Nacho and Arnau from Vedruna Tàrrega said the Spanish and English exams were easier than they had expected. Sofia, from Alfons Costafreda institute, said her Spanish teacher had prepared them thoroughly, while Rim, also from Alfons Costafreda, said the exams went better than expected despite some difficulty with reading comprehension.
The remaining exams will continue over the coming days, with results due later in June. For more Catalonia education coverage, see our news page and follow updates on the Selectivitat as they are published.
