Castellers de Lleida have delivered what was reported as the strongest performance in the group’s history at Sunday’s Sant Miquel human-tower gathering in Plaça de la Paeria, one of the central events of Lleida’s Festes de la Tardor.
The result places the city’s own colla castellera, a team that builds traditional Catalan human towers, at the centre of the festival’s third day. For residents, it gives the annual civic celebration a landmark local cultural achievement alongside its programme of music, family activities and traditional events.
According to La Ciutat’s report, Castellers de Lleida completed a 7 de 8, a human tower with seven people at each level across eight levels, and loaded a 3 de 8, meaning the structure reached its full height. The group performed with Nens del Vendrell and Capgrossos de Mataró, before the traditional farewell pillars.
More than 400 runners take part in Sant Miquel race
The day began with the 12th Cursa de Sant Miquel, which drew more than 400 runners through the Bordeta and Mangraners neighbourhoods.
- Capoeira Topázio Lleida held a capoeira circle at Pati de les Comèdies.
- The family participation show Aixeca't i balla!, by Atrapasomnis, was staged in Plaça del Dipòsit.
- Pista de la Panera hosted the Bingo Musical, while Plaça Sant Joan held a swing dance event and an open jazz-steps workshop.
