New theatrical experience launches at Modernista landmark

Casa Navàs, the Lluís Domènech i Montaner-designed building in Reus, will host two theatrical experiences during the upcoming 'Reus 1900. Festa Modernista' on 10 and 11 October 2026. The centrepiece is the premiere of La Forma de Mirar, a guided theatrical visit exploring the creative worlds of Antoni Gaudí and Domènech i Montaner. The 40-minute performance takes place on the Noble Floor of the house and invites audiences to engage with Modernist architecture through perception and observation. Unlike traditional tours, the experience also delves into early 1900s society, including changes in daily habits brought by the rise of hygiene practices. Sessions run every 20 minutes from 11:00 to 13:40 and 16:00 to 19:40 on Saturday 10 October, and from 11:00 to 14:40 on Sunday 11 October. Tickets cost €20.

The second offering, Entreteles, returns for its third consecutive year following strong audience demand. Written by Irene Benavent, this 30-minute theatrical piece recreates the everyday operations of the Navàs family’s original textile shop within the building. Performances take place in the historic shop space on both days: at 10:45, 11:45, 12:45, 13:45, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00 and 20:00 on Saturday, and four matinee shows at 10:45, 11:45, 12:45 and 13:45 on Sunday. Admission is €15.

These productions are part of the wider 'Reus 1900. Festa Modernista', which runs from 10 to 12 October and celebrates Reus’s Modernist heritage. Previous editions focused on Domènech i Montaner (2023) and local commerce (2024), while the 2025 edition highlighted gastronomy in line with Catalonia’s designation as World Gastronomy Region that year. Casa Navàs has previously hosted innovative cultural formats, including dance performances and summer vermouth evenings, reinforcing its role as a living cultural venue in the heart of Reus.
