A lorry transporting seven cars was involved in an accident on the AP-7 access road from Reus, on the T-11, on Wednesday. The heavy vehicle stopped shortly after leaving the underground roundabout connecting the two roads, but did not block northbound traffic towards Tarragona and Barcelona, according to local reports.
The lorry's cab showed no visible damage. However, the platforms carrying the vehicles were damaged. One theory suggests that the platform fastenings broke during circulation manoeuvres, causing the damage to the cars.
One car, located at the rear of the upper deck, was left tilted against its support structure after part of the platform reportedly broke. The vehicle did not fall onto the road but was in a precarious position, preventing the driver from continuing.
Damage to Cargo and Road Safety
Beyond the tilted car, other vehicles on the lorry's trailer also sustained damage due to the broken platform supports. The driver stopped the vehicle on the hard shoulder, activated emergency lights, and contacted the company to report the incident and arrange for the removal of the trailer and the damaged vehicles.
This incident occurred on the same access road where another lorry previously lost its load, spilling sacks of chocolate powder. That earlier incident led to the AP-7 entrance being closed for several hours. Officials continue to investigate the exact cause of the platform failure in the latest accident.
