Barcelona hosted a cycling festival on Sunday, 31 May 2026, as part of the Tour de France Grand Départ. The event brought families into the city centre for a day focused on bicycles, sustainable mobility and public participation.
The route covered 12 kilometres and took just over half an hour to complete. It started at Passeig de Sant Joan and Carrer d'Aragó, then passed Plaça d'Espanya, Paral·lel, Passeig de Lluís Companys and Marina before finishing at Arc de Triomf.
At the finish area, around 30 cycling-related organisations presented proposals and activities for the public. The stands included interactive displays and information points aimed at people of all ages.
One of the most popular groups was Biciclot, which promotes bicycle exchange among children. The organisation helps children find a bicycle that better fits their size and also offers repair services so the bikes are in good condition.
Biciclot says the work supports alternative transport and a more circular way of using goods, by giving objects a second life. The festival also underlined Barcelona's role in major international sporting events and its wider push for sustainable urban mobility across Catalonia.
