Barcelona’s provincial council, the Diputació de Barcelona, has achieved a perfect 100-point score in the new Public Information Access Assessment Index (IADAIP), according to the Síndica de Greuges de Catalunya.
The result places the council as a benchmark for transparency and for the protection of public rights across Catalonia. It also comes as the Ombudsman’s office continues to assess how well public bodies respond to information requests.
In 2025, the Síndica de Greuges assessed 1,070 public administrations. The average score was 73 out of 100, which makes the Diputació de Barcelona’s result stand out in the wider regional picture.
The report also says requests for public information are rising by nearly 30% each year. That trend suggests more people are using their right to ask for information from public bodies.
An interactive website has been created to show the results for each administration and to compare bodies with similar characteristics. The Diputació de Barcelona says its work supports local governments in the province in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 16 on peace, justice and strong institutions.
