Barcelona students due to sit university entrance exams next week have been told to plan their journeys well in advance, as the Catalan government warns of disruption linked to the Pope’s visit to the city.
More than 45,800 students across Catalonia have registered for the University Access Tests, known as the PAU or selectivitat. Of these, 34,606 are from Barcelona province, according to the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The overlap is expected to affect transport and movement in the city, with officials advising students to allow extra time to reach their exam centres. They are also being urged to consider alternative routes or transport options if needed.
The Generalitat said the warning is intended to reduce the risk of students arriving late during a stressful period. The PAU exams are a key step for students hoping to enter university in Catalonia.
Students and families are being advised to follow official updates from the Generalitat de Catalunya and to check local transport information before travelling. For more Catalonia-wide updates, see our News page.
