Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni met London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Monday during an official visit to the British capital. The two leaders discussed collaboration on sustainable mobility, housing, and tackling the climate crisis.
The meeting, held at London City Hall, focused on deepening existing agreements between the two major European cities. Officials said the discussions aimed to share strategies that could improve residents' quality of life.
Strengthening City Ties
Mayor Collboni emphasised the importance of the meeting for "strengthening the ties between two of Europe's most important cities and for sharing strategies that improve the quality of life for our citizens." He highlighted the shared challenges and opportunities facing large urban centres.
Mayor Khan, for his part, stressed London's desire to "work closely with Barcelona on common challenges such as the energy transition and the promotion of more inclusive and sustainable urban planning." Both mayors expressed a commitment to finding joint solutions.
The discussion also looked at new ways to cooperate in culture and tourism. Additionally, the mayors exchanged best practices in managing city security and promoting civic coexistence. This included strategies for public safety and community harmony.
