Barcelona to host May Day commemoration with focus on quality employment

Barcelona will host an institutional event on 18 May to commemorate International Workers' Day, focusing on the current and future challenges of quality employment. The ceremony, organised by Barcelona City Council, will be presided over by Raquel Gil, fifth deputy mayor for Social Rights, Economic Promotion, Labour, Feminisms and Democratic Memory, and President of Barcelona Activa.

The event will take place at 12pm in the Plenary Hall of the Sants-Montjuïc District, located at c/ Creu Coberta 104. It will feature a keynote speech on the challenges facing quality employment by Antón Costas, President of the Economic and Social Council of Spain.

Examining Labour Rights in Barcelona

Lorena Ventura, Director of Training and Strategic Employment Plans at Barcelona Activa, will present the "Labour Rights 2025 Report". Following this, a discussion session will explore labour rights and quality employment specifically within Barcelona.

The Secretary of Labour for the Government of Catalonia, Paco Ramos, will also address attendees. The commemoration will conclude with remarks from Eduardo Rojo, President of the Economic and Social Council of Barcelona.
