Barcelona’s 40 municipal markets will take part in the build-up to the Tour de France 2026 with a special Tour Omelette, served from 8 June to 5 July. The city announced the campaign on 5 June as part of its plans for the Grand Départ Barcelona 2026.

The official recipe, called Truita del Tour, was created by chef Ot Salvans of Manda Huevos restaurant and is inspired by the Bomba de la Barceloneta. Bars, restaurants and prepared food stalls in the markets will offer it alongside their usual food.

At the launch, Sports Councillor David Escudé and Nadia Quevedo, Commissioner for Economic Promotion, Commerce, Restoration and the Fashion Plan, said the markets will help bring the event into everyday city life. They said the aim is to make the Tour feel like a city-wide event and to give local commerce a visible role.

Escudé said the city wants people across Barcelona, whatever neighbourhood they live in, to experience the Tour as a shared event. Quevedo said the initiative links sport, gastronomy and local trade, and gives residents a way to take part while showing Barcelona to the world. Customers who buy the Truita del Tour can join an Instant Win contest by scanning a QR code on paper placemats or at market photo booths. Prizes are available directly on mobile devices. Throughout June, all 40 market buildings will also be decorated with official garlands to create a sporting atmosphere in every district.

The programme also includes Tasta'M, a tasting event at the Besòs market on 27 June, plus two mobile promotional photo booths that will visit different markets during the street activities. The city says the Tour will pass, but the legacy should remain in the form of a more active city and stronger local commerce.

Barcelona will host three full stages within Catalonia for the 113th edition of the race. Stage 1 on 4 July is a 19.6 km team time trial from the Fòrum marine platform to the Olympic promenade, passing landmarks including the Sagrada Família. Stage 2 on 5 July runs 168 km from Tarragona to Barcelona and finishes with the climb up Montjuïc. Stage 3 on 6 July goes from Granollers to Les Angles in France, over 196 km. More details are available from the official Tour de France site and the Barcelona City Council.
