The Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks has officially opened registration for its 37th edition, scheduled for 14 February 2027 in Barcelona. Organisers are aiming to surpass 40,000 participants, building on the 36,000 runners who took part in 2026.
This target represents a significant increase, with 4,000 more bibs available compared to the previous year. The event is recognised as one of the fastest and most festive half marathons globally, according to the Barcelona City Council.
A Fast Course and Festive Atmosphere
The race features a completely flat course, designed to help runners achieve personal bests. Thousands of participants choose Barcelona each year for its ideal conditions for high-level competition.
Beyond the race clock, the Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks offers a full experience. Over 25 entertainment points, live music, DJs, and tens of thousands of spectators line the streets, transforming the event into a city-wide celebration. Each kilometre is experienced with intensity, with the city supporting and encouraging runners.
David Escudé, the Sports Councillor, stated, “With 4,000 more bibs available, the next edition of the Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks will exceed the symbolic figure of 40,000 participants and write a very important chapter in the history of our race. Barcelona continues to work not only to grow quantitatively but also to continue offering one of the best running experiences worldwide.”
Cristian Llorens, Assets Director at RPM Sports, explained that the event combines a high-level sporting aspect with a festive atmosphere. He believes this makes the event truly distinct, with a clear identity that attracts both performance-focused runners and those seeking an unforgettable experience in Barcelona.
Post-Race Celebrations
The experience extends beyond the finish line with the PaRUNda by Brooks, the official post-race party held at Poble Espanyol. This event allows runners and their companions to enjoy live music, DJ sets, food options, and various activities. This helps to solidify the Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks as an experience that is lived before, during, and after the race.
