A protest in Barcelona on Thursday evening against Israel's interception of the Flotilla ended with objects thrown at police and subsequent charges by the Mossos d'Esquadra. More than 300 people took part in the demonstration, which started after 8pm from Plaça de Sants.
The march proceeded towards the Israeli consulate on Gran Via de Carles III. However, Mossos d'Esquadra officers formed a police line, preventing protesters from approaching the building. A group of hooded individuals then threw various objects, including bottles and smoke canisters, at the anti-riot police line at the intersection of Carrer Gandesa and Avinguda Diagonal.
Police Intervention and Detentions
In response to the projectiles, the Mossos d'Esquadra charged to disperse the group. During the dispersal, approximately ten rubbish containers were overturned by some protesters. Police officers detained at least two individuals on the ground, according to reports from the scene.
The protest highlighted strong feelings among participants regarding the Flotilla's interception. The incident underscores ongoing tensions surrounding international aid efforts and regional conflicts, prompting public demonstrations in cities like Barcelona.
