Tarragona is at the centre of a new rail project, as Adif has started work to reactivate a branch line linked to Camp de Tarragona station. If completed, the work could allow Avant high-speed trains to reach Tarragona city centre more directly.

The project is aimed at recovering the branch line and bringing it back into service. It follows a meeting on 6 May between Adif president Luis Pedro Marco de la Peña and the Dignitat a les Vies platform, where the pending action was discussed.

Dignitat a les Vies has long called for better rail connections for Tarragona residents. A direct Avant link to the city centre would improve access for commuters and visitors, while reducing the need for extra transport from Camp de Tarragona station, which sits outside the urban core.

Adif has not yet given a timeline for the work or said when Avant services might begin running into central Tarragona. For readers following transport coverage across Catalonia, see our news page for more updates.
