Tortosa, in Terres de l'Ebre, will host the New Water Culture Foundation’s annual assembly on 6 June. The meeting comes as the Platform in Defence of the Ebre (PDE) marks its 25th anniversary.

According to the foundation, the timing reflects that “solidarity and joint work between river basins remains alive and is more necessary than ever.” It said these movements have their own diagnoses and strategies to face the speculative pressures that continue to threaten Catalonia’s rivers and territories.

The assembly places Tortosa at the centre of a wider debate on water management and environmental protection in Catalonia. The PDE has spent a quarter of a century advocating for the Ebre river and the areas around it.
