Police in Viladecans, in Baix Llobregat, are investigating a drive-by shooting at a bar on the evening of 20 May. Mossos d'Esquadra said several vehicles approached the premises, opened fire, and then fled at speed, according to police sources who confirmed the incident to ACN.
The attack happened around 9.30pm. When officers arrived, the suspects had gone and no injured people were found. Forensic police later recovered several bullet casings at the scene, which will now be analysed, officials said. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) has taken over the case.
The incident is the third shooting in less than a week in the Barcelona metropolitan area. On 16 May, a young man died after being shot multiple times in the Sants neighbourhood of Barcelona in broad daylight. Initial reports said at least one shot hit his head, and he died at the scene despite attempts by a Mossos officer to stabilise him before medical services arrived.
Sources said the victim was a middle-aged man with a history of drug trafficking offences. The following day, Mossos arrested a 30-year-old man after another early morning shooting in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat. A Guàrdia Urbana patrol became aware of shots fired on Batllori street and began pursuing a car leaving the scene.
When the vehicle reached the train tracks, its two occupants got out and ran. Police arrested one man, while the other remains at large. Europa Press sources said no injuries were reported in that case, but evidence is being collected for the investigation.
