Traffic on the C-25 was disrupted in Espinelves, Girona, on Sunday afternoon, 7 June 2026, after a vehicle fire forced the road to close for more than two hours. The incident began around 2pm and affected drivers heading towards Lleida on this key route through Central Catalonia.

The Catalan Traffic Service, the Servei Català de Trànsit, said the road was first fully closed in the Lleida direction. One lane later reopened, but delays continued in the area while crews dealt with the incident.

Two units from the Generalitat Fire Brigade, the Bombers de la Generalitat, attended the scene. Firefighters reported that the vehicle was giving off a large amount of smoke, and confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Traffic conditions improved through the afternoon. Trànsit first announced the full closure, then the partial reopening, before confirming that normal circulation resumed at 4.29pm.

The incident caused congestion on an important link between Girona, Osona and Central Catalonia. Drivers are advised to check road conditions before setting off and to follow instructions from traffic and emergency services when incidents affect the road network.
