Vallsgenera, the municipal development institute, has helped eight self-employed individuals in Valls and Alt Camp secure grants from the Catalan government's 'TU+1' programme, resulting in 11 new indefinite employment contracts. The Department of Business and Work of the Generalitat de Catalunya published the definitive resolution for these grants on 26 November.
The 'TU+1' programme aims to encourage self-employed individuals, who do not currently have staff, to hire an unemployed person on an indefinite contract for a minimum of 18 months. Those hired must be registered as unemployed (DONO) with the Public Employment Service of Catalonia (SOC).
This grant scheme provides subsidies for these contracts, helping to create stable employment and support the growth of local self-employed businesses. The initiative has injected €174,096 into the local economy, directly strengthening the business sector in the area.
Supporting Local Employment
Vallsgenera offered personalised guidance and advice to self-employed individuals interested in applying for the subsidy. This year, the eight supported projects led to the formalisation of eleven contracts: five full-time and six part-time positions.
The value of the 'TU+1' grants has increased in recent calls. For this year, the amount awarded is €21,762 per full-time contract.
Commitment to Economic Development
Through these actions, Vallsgenera shows its commitment to economic promotion, supporting entrepreneurs, local development, and creating job opportunities. The programme is a key part of the institute's strategy to boost the local economy and reduce unemployment in Valls and the Alt Camp region.
