Valls is preparing for the 11th edition of its popular Music Valls Va de Vins (MVV) festival, taking place on 16 and 17 May at El Pati. This year's event will feature a record number of wineries from the DO Tarragona region, alongside a strong programme of music and gastronomy.

The festival will include 14 participating wineries, the highest number in its history, according to organisers. These wineries will present their best wines, reflecting the diversity of the DO Tarragona area. The event also strengthens its musical offerings with six concerts and introduces new activities, such as a poetic and literary performance at the Cooperativa and a Brandy Exhibition.

Local Valls cuisine will also be prominent, with producers and restaurateurs offering tastings throughout the two-day festival. Participating establishments include Cal Cesc, Ecliss, el Bàrbar, Incògnit, and la Licorera. The new Brandy Exhibition, featuring Destil·leria Gabarró & Feixa from Fulleda and Ratafia dels Carboners from Cardedeu, aims to be the start of a future Brandy Fair, commemorating Valls' history in the spirits industry.

Live Music Programme Announced

The MVV features a diverse and high-quality music programme, highlighting both established names and emerging acts. Dani Nel·lo, a recognised saxophonist, and Rambalaya, a rhythm and blues band, are among the headline performers. The line-up also includes acts led by women, such as Donallop from Mallorca, the gypsy jazz group Maria Pascual & Punch Trio, and the world music ensemble Ellas Music Band. For the first time, a street performance for families, Katapulten, will be part of the festival.

Tickets for the Music Valls Va de Vins festival cost €15 and include a glass, five wine tastings, and a 2-for-1 voucher for the Casteller Museum of Catalonia. This voucher allows access to the immersive Enxaneta 360 casteller experience using virtual reality glasses. Attendees can also buy a glass holder for €1, individual glasses for €2, and single wine tasting tickets for €3.

Pre-Festival Events and Museum Collaborations

A special pre-festival event, “Suite Terra i Vi”, will take place on 14 May at the Societat Agrícola de Valls. This free performance combines music, poetry, and DO Tarragona wine tasting, though booking is required due to limited capacity. The festival itself will open on Friday, 16 May, from 18:00 to 23:00. On Saturday, it will run from 11:00 to 15:00 and again from 18:00 to 23:00.

The MVV is an initiative of the Valls City Council's Department of Commerce, in collaboration with DO Tarragona, the Societat Agrícola de Valls, and the Valls Restaurateurs Association, with support from the Generalitat's Department of Culture.

For the second consecutive year, the MVV is partnering with Món Casteller · Museu Casteller de Catalunya, offering discounts and street activities as part of Museum Night and International Museum Day. In addition to the 2-for-1 museum entry included with wine tasting packs, other events are planned. On Saturday, 17 May, the Casteller Museum will extend its hours until 22:00, with free entry from 19:00 for Museum Night. Plaça Pere Català Roca, below the museum, will host a family show, “La Màgia dels Castells”. On Sunday, 18 May, International Museum Day, Món Casteller will offer free entry all day from 10:00 to 18:00.
