Valls, in the Alt Camp region, has released its extensive events agenda for May 2026, featuring a diverse programme of cultural, sporting, and community activities. Residents and visitors can look forward to exhibitions, workshops, and festivals across the city, according to the Valls City Council.
The month kicks off with the International Dance Day on 1 May, presented by Escola Adagi at 11am. Throughout the month, the Institut d'Estudis Vallencs (IEV) will host several exhibitions, including 'Morters: salses i picades' (Mortars: Sauces and Pestos) in its archaeology display, and 'The Arabs Who Live in Me'.
Sporting enthusiasts can participate in the Multi-Sport Days starting on 4 May at 9am. Families have a dedicated escape room event, 'El Tresor' (The Treasure), on 9 May at 4pm, as part of the spring family activities programme. The 'Orgull vallenc 2026' (Valls Pride 2026) celebrations will also begin in May, featuring a documentary screening of 'If I die, it will be of joy' on 7 May at 7:30pm, followed by an excursion and lunch on 10 May at 9:30am.
Cultural Highlights and Community Gatherings
May's cultural calendar is rich with events. The IEV will open a new exhibition, 'Les Ulldes', on 8 May. Theatre lovers can attend 'Jo, travesti' (I, Transvestite) on 10 May at 8pm. Music will also feature prominently, with a Country Day celebration on 10 May at 11am and a concert titled 'De cançons, balls i variacions' (Of Songs, Dances and Variations) on 17 May at 8pm.
The city will also host several community-focused events. The World Fibromyalgia Day will be marked on 12 May at 11am. The 'Barri en Flor 2026' (Flowering Neighbourhood 2026) exhibition starts on 15 May. The Espai Jove (Youth Space) offers various activities for younger residents. These include formative capsules on 5 May and 19 May, both at 5pm, a table tennis tournament on 15 May at 5:30pm, and a Cyanotype workshop, also on 15 May at 5:30pm. For younger children, the Minicívic programme includes an infant massage session on 6 May at 5pm.
Gastronomy plays a part in the May agenda with 'Valls va de Vins' (Valls is about Wines), the 12th Tarragona DO Wine Exhibition, taking place on 15 May at 7:30pm and 17 May at 12pm. Another wine-related event, 'Tastos amb Essència de Territori' (Tastings with the Essence of the Territory), is scheduled for 17 May at 7:30pm, preceding the Tarragona DO Fair.
Educational and Social Initiatives
Educational opportunities include a course on 'Captació en Atenció a la Diversitat en el Lleure Educatiu' (Recruitment in Diversity Care in Educational Leisure) on 16 May and 23 May, both at 9am. The IEV's 'LA PARRA' series will continue with 'L'Òliba, recuperant el pensament filosòfic català' (The Owl, Recovering Catalan Philosophical Thought) on 13 May at 7:30pm, and a viola recital on 20 May at 7:30pm.
Social inclusion is highlighted with 'El Conte del dijous: Contes en clau LGTBI+' (Thursday's Story: LGTBI+ Themed Stories) on 14 May at 5:30pm. The 14th Festival of Capacities will take place on 21 May at 9:30am. The 'Orgull vallenc 2026' also includes family activities by La Tribu Juganera on 17 May at 10am.
End of Month Events
As May draws to a close, Valls will host the 14th Vehicle Fair on 22 May at 10am. The IEV will present the Music School at Pati de Sant Roc on 22 May at 7:30pm, and a screening of 'Cinema Paradiso' by Cineclub Valls on 23 May at 8pm. The month will also see the 43rd Awards Night on 23 May at 8pm, and a 'Classics Night' concert featuring Albert Guinovart on 17 May at 8pm.
