Restrictions lifted after storm
The Generalitat has lifted mobility restrictions in the Vallès Occidental and several other comarcas this morning, following an extreme weather episode that prompted emergency measures. The decision was announced by Interior Minister Núria Parlon on Sunday 4 October 2026, with the restrictions formally ending at 14:00. Affected areas include Alt Penedès, Baix Llobregat, Barcelonès, Garraf, Moianès, Osona, Ripollès, Alt Camp, Baix Camp, Baix Penedès and Tarragonès. An ES-Alert message was sent by the government confirming the end of the restrictions and advising the public to remain cautious.
We ask citizens to maintain prudence and maximum precaution during the coming hours.
Ongoing risks remain
Despite the lifting of restrictions, Parlon urged residents to stay alert, noting that emergency services are still dealing with residual incidents. In Sabadell, several streets remain closed and parts of Gran Via are inaccessible due to flooding and infrastructure damage. The previous night saw torrential rains, with the Parc Agrari weather station recording 172 litres per square metre by 05:00. Some areas across Catalonia received over 200 litres per square metre, according to data published by the Generalitat. The restrictions had been in place since 20:00 on Saturday 3 October under the INUNCAT emergency plan, which suspended non-essential movement, outdoor activities, cultural events, and educational activities in 20 comarcas.
What you should do now
Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads and follow updates via the Generalitat's official press releases. Check local municipal channels for street reopening schedules and transport disruptions.
