In Manresa, Montserrat Benasat, a 69-year-old former banker, has described the USénior programme at the Fundació Universitària del Bages (FUB-UManresa) as a “luxury for Manresa”. She has been attending courses there for the past 10 years.

Benasat said she had previously studied teaching and psychology, but had to combine those studies with her job. That meant, in her words, she “could not enjoy them because I did not have time”.

The UManresa programme, she said, allowed her to pursue her interests “with tranquillity and calm”. She added that it “fulfilled my expectations”.

USénior is aimed at older adults and offers educational opportunities for lifelong learning. According to the university, the initiative is designed to provide intellectual stimulation and cultural enrichment.
