In Salt, Girona, an uncontrolled bonfire burned a hut and nearby vegetation in the Hortes de Salt area on Sunday night, close to Coma Cros.

The Generalitat Firefighters received the alert at about 11:30pm, after the fire started in the horticultural zone and became unmanageable.

Firefighters worked for around 90 minutes to put out the flames and stop them spreading further into surrounding fields. They said the uncontrolled bonfire was the cause of the fire.

The incident is a reminder of the fire risk in areas where farmland and homes sit close together, especially during dry periods. Authorities regularly warn against uncontrolled outdoor burning in these settings.
