Ubrique, in Andalusia, has honoured Xavier Badia, president of the Catalan Leather Cluster, and the cluster itself at its annual Bajo la Piel fair. The event also marked a formal twinning with Igualada, a city in central Catalonia.
The fair took place last weekend and was used to strengthen the long-standing links between the two towns. The awards recognised the leather sector and included strong participation from Igualada.
Badia accepted the award on behalf of himself and the cluster. He said collaboration between different industry players is important for promoting and growing the sector.

The fair also featured a cultural contribution from Igualada. The Moixiganguers, the Catalan human tower group, performed and received strong applause from the audience.
The twinning between Ubrique and Igualada, both places with a long leather-making tradition, is expected to support further cultural and economic exchange.
