Barcelona’s Turó de la Peira are preparing for a major moment in the club’s history, as they face Igualada in the first leg of their Lliga Elit promotion play-off semi-final this Saturday at 6pm.
The match will be broadcast live on Betevé, with the signal produced by the Xarxa de Televisions Locals. For the club from Nou Barris, officials say it is their biggest achievement in 75 years.
Turó de la Peira secured their place in the play-offs after beating APA Poble Sec 4-2 in the final match of the Primera Catalana regular season. That result kept alive their chance of promotion to the Lliga Elit.
The draw on 18 May paired them with Igualada, a side from the Anoia region. The two clubs already met twice in the league this season, with Turó de la Peira finishing second and Igualada third.
Turó de la Peira won both of those meetings, taking a 3-2 home victory in Barcelona and a 2-0 away win at Les Comes. The semi-final will decide which team moves a step closer to promotion.
