Tortosa is considering bringing two municipal hospitals into the public company Salut Terres de l'Ebre, a move that could reshape healthcare management in the city and across Terres de l'Ebre.

Mayor Mar Lleixà said discussions are underway about integrating Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús and Clínica Terres de l'Ebre into the public health network. The two centres currently operate as municipal entities.

If the plan goes ahead, the hospitals would come under a single public administration. Supporters of the idea say that could improve coordination and the use of resources across local medical services.

The talks are still at an early stage, and officials are looking at what the change would mean for patients and staff. No timeline or operational details have been set out yet.
