Tortosa, in the Terres de l'Ebre area, is in talks with the Catalan government over integrating Clínica Terres de l'Ebre and Hospital de Jesús into the public health system.

The discussions centre on bringing both centres under Salut Terres de l'Ebre, a public company, with the aim of securing their economic sustainability. CatSalut is Catalonia's public health service.

The mayor said the move is intended to provide a more stable financial framework for the two hospitals and the services they provide to residents in Tortosa and the surrounding area.

The talks also form part of a wider effort to strengthen public healthcare provision in Terres de l'Ebre. Officials want to ensure consistent medical care for the local population and reduce the pressure that independent facilities can face.

Clínica Terres de l'Ebre and Hospital de Jesús are key healthcare providers in the city. If an agreement is reached, their services, staff and infrastructure would become part of the publicly managed network.
