The Terres de l'Ebre region in Catalonia is preparing for a busy long weekend with several major events, including the 80th Expoebre in Tortosa, the 39th Livestock and Craft Fair in Rasquera, and the 31st Pottery Fair in La Galera. These events, alongside popular festivals, concerts, and gastronomic activities, are scheduled from 30 April to 3 May, according to local reports.
Rasquera will host its 39th Livestock and Craft Fair on 2 and 3 May. This event, held in the town's main streets and squares, combines tradition with local produce and activities for all ages. Artisans, local producers, and gastronomic stalls will fill the municipality, offering proposals linked to the rural world. Highlights include a tasting of Rasquera's White Goat, a livestock descent, and wine tastings, all designed to promote local products and identity.
Pottery and Innovation
La Galera's 31st Pottery Fair will run from 30 April to 3 May. Potters and ceramists will gather once again, with Galicia featured as this year's guest community. The fair will include participatory and demonstrative workshops, craft exhibitions, ceramic displays, concerts, and gastronomic tastings. Entry to the fair and workshops is free, with visiting hours from 10am to 2pm and 4pm to 9pm.
The 80th Expoebre in Tortosa starts on 30 April and continues until 3 May at the Remolins exhibition hall. This year's edition introduces several new features, including more open and inviting stands to encourage interaction between exhibitors and the public. The event will also feature a 'Taste & Fashion' area with food and craft stalls, attractions, concerts, the 'Ebretast' gastronomic space, 'Celebrem', 'Ebretech', and 'Ebreambient'. Raquel Sánchez, president of Paradores, will inaugurate this year's Expoebre, which carries the slogan 'Building history and memories of the future'.
Local Festivities and Music
La Palma d'Ebre will celebrate its Santa Caterina festivities from 29 April to 3 May. The programme includes comedy shows, popular lunches, concerts, afternoon dances, orchestras, sardanes, bowling competitions, a children's park, and an escape room. The celebrations will conclude on Sunday with a solemn mass and the Santa Caterina procession.
The Mas de Barberans Major Festivals, running from 24 April to 2 May, offer activities for all audiences. These include parades, processions and masses honouring Sant Marc and Sant Gregori, exhibitions, traditional games, popular meals, bowling, theatre plays, tributes to the elderly, and contests. A portable bullring will be set up for bovine livestock exhibitions. Musical acts include the orchestras Welcome Band, Mediterrània, and Atalaia, as well as the group Los Mejores and the brass band Estrella Band.
Móra la Nova will host the 3rd Steam Festival at the Railway Museum from 1 to 3 May. This event aims to highlight steam technology through railway circulations and activities for all ages, also featuring other elements like tractors and static engines. The ticket office will be open from 10:30am to 5pm, with circulations from 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm.
Batea's 1 May Festival, organised by the Adeba Youth Association, starts on 30 April at 00:30am in Plaça Catalunya with DJs Alberto Rafales and Ursa. The next day, activities continue by the river with a paella competition at 2:30pm and musical bingo two hours later. Mojitos will also be available for purchase throughout the afternoon.
Deltebre will host the Rock N' Riu festival on 2 May at the Delta River Centre. From 11am to 2pm and 4pm to 3am, the town will experience a day full of music. Local groups will take centre stage from 7pm, with performances by Shunyk’s, Galatxo Band, Juno, La Mangrana, MX30, and Los Chingawhats.
