Terrassa Pushes for Sustained Support

Terrassa has formally called on the Generalitat de Catalunya to increase funding for its municipal LGTBIQ+ services, following a working meeting on Tuesday between city officials and senior representatives from the regional Department of Equality and Feminism. Lluïsa Melgares, Terrassa’s councillor for Gender and LGTBIQ+ Policies, led the delegation that presented the city’s achievements in advancing rights and inclusion. The discussion centred on consolidating existing services, including the Integrated Service for Affective, Sexual and Gender Diversity (SAI DASIG), which has been part of the regional SAI network since 2017. Between 2018 and 2025, the service processed 529 cases, with 184 individuals receiving 565 support interventions in 2025 alone.

Projects Highlighted for Expansion

During the meeting, Terrassa showcased key municipal projects such as Fils de memòria, a new intervention model focused on intergenerational memory, the Municipal Protocol for Addressing Diversity and LGTBI-phobia, and the programme Més Masculinitats Possibles. Actions under the Corresponsables Plan were also presented, including summer camps and childcare spaces in municipal nurseries. The Generalitat representatives praised Terrassa’s work, acknowledging the value and trajectory of its LGTBIQ+ services. In response, the city council urged that recognition be translated into concrete financial commitments.
