Vilaritg, in Cistella, Alt Empordà, is set to host the first Terrafort d'Empordà concert series, a new independent cultural project centred on local music and heritage. The organisers say the aim is to bring activity to the medieval hamlet and connect the area’s territory with musical culture.

The series takes its name from the historical term for the Garrotxes d'Empordà, the mountainous and wooded transition zone in western Alt Empordà. It is being promoted by Figueres-born musician and composer Alverd Oliva, who lives in Vilaritg, and Judit Densalat.

The opening concert will feature Oliva presenting his new album, Flor de nit, on Saturday 13 June. Doors open at 7pm and the concert starts at 7.30pm. A complimentary snack reception will follow the performance.

Further programme details will be announced later. The organisers say the series is intended to highlight lesser-known parts of Empordà and give local artists a platform. For more local coverage, see our news page.

Terrafort d'Empordà also fits a wider pattern in Catalonia, where cultural events are being used to support rural places and strengthen community ties. The focus here remains firmly local, with Vilaritg at the centre of the first concert and the wider Alt Empordà area as the setting.
