In Terra Alta, in southern Catalonia, the Designation of Origin is working to raise the international profile of its Garnatxa Blanca wine through a new project called GRACTI.
The project is coordinated by INNOVI, the Catalan wine cluster, and includes the Terra Alta Rural Tourism Association. GRACTI stands for Garnatxa Terra Alta: Science, Territory and Identity.
According to the DO, the aim is to strengthen the wine’s position abroad by bringing together scientific knowledge, regional identity, expert recommendations, local gastronomy and sustainable tourism practices.
The project also highlights the role of Garnatxa Blanca in the area’s economy and cultural heritage. The DO says it wants to build a clearer and more recognisable brand for the wine, while also drawing visitors interested in wine culture and the local landscape.
