Teachers' unions USTEC, CGT and Intersindical will maintain their planned strike on Monday, 2 June 2026, in Central Catalonia and the Girona region. The decision comes while members are being consulted on a provisional agreement reached with the Catalan education department on Friday night, according to union sources.
The three unions are jointly consulting teaching staff on the proposed deal. The consultation is expected to begin on Saturday or Sunday morning and run until Monday evening, with union officials still finalising the technical details of the process.
The strike will go ahead as scheduled while the unions seek endorsement for the agreement. The terms of the deal have not yet been fully disclosed, but it is intended to address concerns previously raised by the teaching community.
The result of the consultation will determine the unions' next steps. For more Catalonia education coverage, see our news page.
