In Sant Fruitós de Bages, the independent governing party Gent fent Poble (GFP) held its first congress on Saturday, with current mayor Joan Carles Batanés leading the group.
The party, formed 15 years ago, said its aim is to improve the lives of local residents. At the congress, members reviewed the group’s achievements to date, including better mobility within the municipality, new green spaces, and support for cultural and sports activities.
Future priorities discussed at the meeting included housing, economic development and sustainability. The party said these are among the main challenges it wants to address in the years ahead.
Joan Carles Batanés was re-elected as GFP president. He thanked members for their trust and said the party was pleased to hold its first congress and to see the response it has received.
Batanés said the group will continue working to make Sant Fruitós a better place to live. The event was attended by many local residents, along with representatives from other political parties and social organisations.
