A shop fire in Tàrrega, on Avinguda de Catalunya, forced residents in the building to stay indoors on Thursday afternoon. The alert was received shortly after 3pm, and the fire was extinguished by 3.35pm, according to local officials.
Smoke built up in the stairwell after the fire started inside the shop, which led to the confinement order while firefighters brought the blaze under control. Traffic on Avinguda de Catalunya and Plaça del Carme was closed during the operation.
Five fire crews from the Bombers de la Generalitat attended the incident. They were joined by Mossos d'Esquadra, the Guàrdia Urbana, and an ambulance from the Servei d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM).
No injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel. Once the fire was out, crews worked to ventilate the affected premises and clear the smoke.
