Blanes has started taking part in Girostudi, the public health project led by Dipsalut, the Public Health Organisation of the Girona Provincial Council. The study will collect health data from 4,000 residents over ten years.
The project is supported by the Catalan government and several scientific and health institutions. Blanes is one of 18 municipalities in the Girona region selected to join the study, with the local council backing the work through its Public Health department.
Girostudi is designed to build a long-term picture of health in the area. The information gathered is intended to help shape future public health policies and interventions across the region.
The project’s scale and duration mean it will track health trends over time, rather than relying on a single snapshot. That approach is intended to give public bodies and health partners a clearer view of the factors affecting local communities.
