Teachers in Tarragona continued their strike on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, over a pre-agreement with the Catalan Education Department. The action was led by CGT, Intersindical and COS, and more than 400 people joined the march through the city.

The protest began at the Serveis Territorials d'Educació headquarters on Carrer Sant Francesc at around 9.15am. Teachers held a press conference there and called for the resignation of Education Minister Esther Niubó, while also demanding smaller class sizes and more resources for inclusive education.

After the press conference, the group marched to Plaça Imperial Tarraco, where they remained until 10.30am. Protesters chanted slogans including “Educació pública i de qualitat” and “Niubó dimissió”, and the demonstration briefly affected traffic in parts of the square, with vehicles entering and leaving Rambla Nova slowly.

The march then continued towards Pont del Francolí via Avinguda de Roma, ending at Pont Ramón y Cajal over the Francolí river for a “reivindicative vermouth” event. Similar protests also took place in Terres de l'Ebre, where teachers marched from Plaça 1 d'Octubre to the local Serveis Territorials d'Educació headquarters.

In Terres de l'Ebre, teachers carried a CGT banner reading: “No a les molles, l'educació seguim en lluita”. The unions involved, CGT, Intersindical and COS, represent a minority of teachers, but they have stayed opposed to the pre-agreement during talks with the Education Department.
