Tarragona province is facing a late-May heatwave, with temperatures more typical of summer than spring. On Sunday, 24 May 2026, Vinebre recorded 33.7 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in the area and among the top ten in Catalonia.
Other high readings were concentrated in Lleida's counties, where the thermometer went above 34 degrees Celsius. In Tarragona, the heat is being felt most strongly in the interior areas of the Terres de l'Ebre.
Residents across the province should expect the warm spell to continue through the final week of May. That means hotter conditions for daily routines, travel, and outdoor plans.
