Tarragona is set to become a European logistics reference point for Cosco and PTP Group, according to Guillermo Misiano, general director of the Argentinian logistics company PTP. He made the comments in Tarragona during the presentation of the concession project for a multi-purpose terminal at Moll d’Andalusia, inside the Port of Tarragona.
The terminal will be run by a joint venture for the next 50 years. Cosco leads the partnership, while PTP Group is a minority partner. The project plans an investment of nearly €117 million and expects to create up to 180 jobs.
Misiano is acting as the spokesperson for the project, which is intended to strengthen the port’s role in European shipping and trade routes. The long concession period is designed to give the partners stability for planning and future expansion.
For Tarragona and the wider Catalonia area, the project could bring more cargo traffic and stronger links for businesses using the port. It also adds to the Port of Tarragona’s position as a Mediterranean logistics gateway.
