Tarragona Provincial Council and Pimec have launched the first edition of Accelerate Growth Tarragona, a programme designed to support high-potential businesses across the Tarragona area.
The initiative will work with companies on the issues that can limit expansion, through personalised action plans. The main areas are digital transformation, sales and service improvements, financial structure, internationalisation, and business organisation.
The opening session took place on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, at the Boca de la Mina Innovation and Training Centre of the Provincial Council in Reus. Pere Granados, deputy for economic promotion and employment, and Jordi Ciuraneta, president of Pimec Tarragona, led the session.
Granados said the Provincial Council is committed to working with the business community because companies are a driver of employment, innovation, and territorial cohesion. He added that the programme offers strategic support to identify and strengthen areas that could limit business development. For more local business coverage, see our news page.
Ciuraneta said the programme will help improve the competitiveness of SMEs for the benefit of Tarragona's economy. He also pointed to the wider issue of business size, saying the project aims to help micro-enterprises become small firms, small firms become medium-sized, and medium-sized firms become larger.
The six companies taking part in this first edition are Barberà Martínez neteges integrals, SL, from La Selva del Camp, Comarruga 80, SL, from Comarruga, Comercial Plasticos Kira, SL, from La Sénia, Ecopol Tech, SL, from L'Arboç, Eixumara d’Indústries (MADAC, SA), in Tarragona, and Filaman, SL, from Roquetes.
They work in industrial cleaning and cleaning products, food sales and prepared meals, polyethylene tubes for water conduction and cable protection, nanostructured polymers for coatings, cosmetics and drug delivery, facility maintenance, and cutting tools for the furniture, wood, and agri-food industries.
