Tarragona province is set for a sharp change in weather, with a yellow alert for heavy rain and storms on Thursday afternoon, 3 June 2026. The warning follows several days of high temperatures across the area.

The most affected areas are expected to be inland parts of Tarragona, including Baix Penedès, Alt Camp, Priorat and Conca de Barberà. Forecasts point to intense rain over short periods, with showers and thunderstorms developing through the day.

According to the forecast, isolated weak showers could affect Camp de Tarragona and the southern central coast until late Thursday morning. Rain is then expected to spread across eastern Catalonia in the afternoon, with showers and storms across the northern third and eastern half of the territory.

Other areas, especially pre-coastal zones, could also see scattered rainfall. These showers are expected to be weak to moderate in general, but could become strong or even torrential in parts of the north-east. Thunderstorms and, in some places, hail are also possible.

The unstable weather is expected to continue into Friday. Showers may develop overnight in parts of the southern coast and pre-coast, with stronger rain possible in Baix Penedès, Tarragonès and Baix Camp. From mid-morning to afternoon, weak and isolated precipitation is also likely in the north-eastern quadrant, with limited accumulations.

Residents in affected areas should keep up with local weather updates and follow official advice as conditions change. For more Catalonia-wide coverage, see news.
